Counselling & Therapy

We offer Counselling and Psychotherapy services to individual clients, couples, family and non-family groups, in respect of an extensive range of personal life problems such as:
swirl

  • Relationship / Marriage / Family difficulties
  • Anxiety / Panic
  • Depression
  • Addiction
  • Sexual abuse / assault
  • Psycho-sexual problems
  • Bereavement
  • Eating problems
  • Adolescent difficulties

Some individuals may also choose a counselling / psychotherapy forum without reference to a specific ‘presenting problem’, but rather as a place to develop more fully their personal life, psychologically, relationally and spiritually.

Our Approach open

All counsellors/psychotherapists working in the Centre practise within a humanistic or person-centred orientation. The focus in the therapeutic process is on the personal, subjective experience of the client. The person’s own inner wisdom, freedom, and responsibility for self are regarded as paramount.

All persons seeking help are acknowledged as embodied, spiritual, psychological and social beings. While each person is regarded as a private separateness, it is also recognised that within the ‘self’ there are depths that reach beyond the person’s individuality from which life derives both sustenance and meaning.

In addition to practising from a humanistic perspective, some of the Centre’s therapists include specialisms in their work, such as Art Therapy, Child & Adolescent Therapy, Couples Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Working with ‘Expanded’ or ‘Non-ordinary’ States of Consciousness, among others.

Therapist Accreditation open

All Professional Counsellors/Psychotherapists in the Centre are required to:

  • Have completed a Professional Training
  • Have received Professional Accreditation from either the Irish Council for Psychotherapy or the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
  • Attend regular Clinical Supervision for their work
  • Participate in ongoing Personal and Professional Development
  • Abide by prevailing Codes of Ethics and Professional Practice

Student Counsellors are required to:

  • Have successfully completed at least two years of Professional Training
  • Attend weekly Clinical Supervision meetings
  • Continue to engage in training and personal development work
  • Abide by prevailing Codes of Ethics and Professional Practice
Clinical Supervision open

Fees open

Clinical services are offered on both a fee-paying basis and a low-cost / no cost option. Where an individual’s circumstances are such that a low-cost option is required, a reduced rate is negotiated in accordance with the person’s means, and in some cases no fee is charged.

A core tenet of the Centre’s Philosophy is that no person be asked to pay any more than they can reasonably afford for the service they receive.
